Crossing two unrelated, inbred parent lines often produces offspring that outgrow both parents. This effect, called hybrid vigor, is one source of strong cannabis genetics and shows up as faster growth, thicker stems, and larger harvests in the first generation. The advantage fades when those offspring are bred with each other, as traits begin to separate again. Seed companies producing true F1 hybrids must therefore maintain the two parent lines indefinitely.
